Ain't No Party Like a West Coast Party

Well this is coming approximately forever after it actually happened.  But blogger has been actin' a fool and I couldn't do anything with it.

Anywho, a few weeks back I went to my most favorite place in the world: Monterey, California.

I stayed with my good buddy Deborah, who has the most comfortable futon I've ever been on.  She also has impeccable taste in hats.  As demonstrated above.

The trip itself was pretty short, and we didn't really do anything mind-blowing.  It was just a nice change of pace to not change diapers and wipe noses and fix umpteen bowls of oatmeal for a few days.

The most important thing I did was to just take it all in.  I don't think I fully appreciated Monterey when we lived there.  If I would have known how much I would have missed the smell of fresh water (which is like a mix of salt and death.  It really isn't that great but somehow it's still amazing.) or the ability to walk to just about anywhere, I would have carpe diem-ed all over that fine state.

Look at that face.  That's the face of someone who knows where they belong.  And it definitely is not Omaha, Nebraska.  There's no guarantee that I will ever get to live there again.  But there's no guarantee of tomorrow either, so for now I will just hope that the big guy upstairs will go all Make-A-Wish and grant this little lady her biggest dream.

  1. Wow you got away child free?! That's impressive! We can't wait to live in Monterey in 1.5-2 years! I'm going to be asking you for lots of suggestions!
